Basildon Council
BTCM is a property management company on behalf of Basildon Council and manage a variety of properties and areas on behalf of Basildon Council.
We were requested by BTCM to provide our recommendations for a set of steps which lead to a car-park area located near Basildon Market. The existing staircase had checker plate nosings on each step which had become loose and rusty and were causing a potential trip hazard to pedestrians.
The steps also had a light screed applied behind the nosing and each landing area - to build-up the height. However, due to the insufficient depth in the original screed, the material was cracking and was de-bonding from the surface.
Richco recommended that the original screed and checker-plate nosings were removed and disposed of. The steps and landing areas were then fully prepared prior to the installation of our Anti-Slip System.
Richco Anti-Slip System was then applied to all steps, risers and landing areas in a colour chosen by the client. All steps had Richco Fibreglass Nosings installed in yellow to provide an anti-slip nosing in a contrasting colour.
The finished system provided a practical, hardwearing but decorative anti-slip surface to the pedestrian staircase.
