Richco Stair Nosings have been developed as a cost effective, long term solution to providing safety to step edges. Richco Stair Nosings provide a contrasting coloured nosing fitted to the step edges and in addition, such nosings should provide a slip resistant top surface.

Richco Stair Nosings can be fitted to almost any step without creating a trip hazard. Even when fitted to landings and extra deep steps, it provides the most secure solution and is ideal for do it yourself installations.

Richco Stair Nosing profiles have a compound of a special formula of grit that is added in the final layer of laminate.

To ensure a flush fit with the existing substrate and to eliminate the possibility of a trip hazard, the product has been designed with a tapered back edge.

Quick and simple to install. Either glue and screw to the existing substrate or simply glue using a structural adhesive.

Installation Guide

Surface Preparation
Ensure the areas that are to have Richco Stair Nosings fitted are clean, dry and free from loose and friable material. Any “dished” or damaged surface areas should be patch repaired to provide a reasonably flat and consistent surface.

Dry fit all Stair Nosings and ensure that they fit freely and that they sit flat to the surface. If required Richco Stair Nosings can be trimmed onsite to suit using an industrial jigsaw and appropriate cutting blades.

Application
Drill the fixing locating holes in the Stair Nosings.

Whilst mechanial fixings are all that is required to secure Richco Stair Nosings, wherever possible, the application of an appropriate high strength gap filling adhesive will provide a secondary fixing in the event that the mechanical fixings should fail.
Apply a 6mm bead of high strength gap-filling adhesive around the periphery of the Stair Nosing and in horizontal stripes at approximately 200mm centres. Immediately press the Stair Nosing firmly to the substrate to ensure adequate transfer of adhesive. A firm bond will be achieved in about one hour under normal circumstances and conditions. Secure with the mechanical fixings and allow the adhesive sealant to cure before allowing excessive traffic to use the area.

Over Timber
No 8 x 30mm zinc plated or stainless steel screws.

Over Steel Plate
No 8 x 20mm Self-Tapping Pan Head Pozi Stainless Steel Screws. No 8 x 20 Self-Drilling Pan Head Philips Zinc Plated Screws

Over Concrete
No 8 x 30mm Zinc Plated or Stainless Steel Impact Anchors (Hilti HPS-1 or Similar)

Over Open Mesh
Stainless steel or zinc plated saddle clips and domed head bolts suitable in length for the depth of the existing treads.
