Benefits

High Quality
Richco Tactile Plates are made from a unique method of fibreglass and resin. This method ensures that each and every Richco Tactile Plate has exactly the same high quality finish, as opposed to hand layout products which can be inconsistent.

Anti Slip
As with the majority of the Richco range a special grit formula is added to the top layer to offer extra anti slip properties over traditional materials.

Do it Yourself Installation
Installation of Richco Tactile Plates is quick and easy. Richco Tactile Plates are glued and screwed to the existing substrate therefore eliminating the need for time consuming and costly excavation.

Specifications

Blister Onstreet Tactile
The purpose of the blister surface is to provide a warning to visually impaired people who would otherwise find it difficult to notice the difference between where the footpath ends and the road begins. The surface is an essential safety feature for road users at pedestrian crossing areas.

Blister Offstreet Tactile
This design has flat topped domes set in evenly spaced rows parallel to the direction of travel along the platform. The offset of the domes indicates the direction of travel. Used adjacent to safe carriageway crossings, the surface can be any colour other than red, but should provide a good contrast with the surrounding area to assist partially sighted people.

Corduroy Tactile
The purpose of the corduroy surface is to warn visually impaired people of the presence of hazards, such as stairs, level crossings or the approach to on-street light rapid transit (LRT) platforms. Consisting of rows of parallel half-round bars, it conveys the message hazard, proceed with caution.

Size
Tactile plates are manufactured in 400mm x 400mm square profile.

The product is nominally 4mm thick.

Installation Guide

Surface Preparation
Ensure the areas that are to have Richco Tactile Plates fitted are clean, dry and free from loose and friable material. Any “dished” or damaged surface areas should be patch repaired to provide a reasonably flat and consistent surface.

Application
A mechanical fixing is not generally required but will provide a secondary fixing in the event that the adhesive mastic should fail.
Drill a fixing hole in each corner of the Tactile Plate and using an adhesive mastic apply a thick bead to the underside of the plate. Fit and drill in place using fixings which best suit the substrate.

If the substrate is damp, very cold, contaminated or in generally poor condition, Richco recommend the use of mechanical fixing along with a suitable adhesive mastic.
