Specifications
Area Coverage
Coverage area is approximately 18m² per 4.5L per coat. One coat is normally sufficient depending on the quality of existing substrate.
Curing Time
This product will normally cure overnight at 15 °C to accept light foot traffic the next day. Full chemical and wear resistance is achieved over 7 days (at a minimum constant temp of
15 °C). Water should not be allowed to lie on the surface for at least 7 days. Avoid washing the surface for 7 days after coating.
Surface Preparation
Concrete and brick: Concrete to be treated must be dry, at least
four weeks old and free of any soft surface
laitance, contaminants, and not subject to
rising damp. All loose material should be
removed. Very smooth bare concrete or
concrete with soft surface laitance should
be etched and the
area thoroughly hosed off and allowed to
dry. Grease or oil should be removed with a degreasant and the
area thoroughly hosed off and allowed to
dry. Very smooth previously painted
surfaces should preferably be abraded to
improve adhesion.
Steel: Remove loose or flaking material, rust and
any previous coatings by wire brushing or
disc grinding to achieve a bright surface. Oil
or grease should be removed with a degreasant and the metal then washed with
Water and allowed to dry. Coating should
be carried out immediately providing flash
rusting has not occurred.
Priming
A primer is not generally required,
epoxy resin
coatings can bubble if applied direct to
open textured or very porous surfaces.
We recommend one coat a 4
Hour Epoxy Primer for such surfaces.
Mixing
The curing agent and resin must be very thoroughly mixed together with a wide bladed tool until an even colour is obtained.
Application
Best results are obtained in warm conditions (minimum 15°C). On horizontal surfaces apply by medium pile type roller in one coat. On vertical surfaces two thin coats are recommended. The second coat should be applied within 24 hours.
Application Tools
Apply Richco High Build Epoxy Floor Coating using a medium type pile roller. Mix product with a wide bladed tool.
Cleaning of Application Tools
It is not practical to clean applicators and they should be discarded after use.
