Specifications
Area Coverage
Coverage area is approximately 4m² per 13.5kg unit at 2mm nominal thickness.
Curing Time
This product will accept light foot traffic after about 30 hours at 20°C. Test before allowing traffic. Full chemical and mechanical resistance is achieved after 7 days.
Curing time at 20°C
Foot = 24 hours
Light vehicles = 3 days
Full strength = 7 days
Curing time at 30°C
Foot = 16 hours
Light vehicles = 2 days
Full strength = 7 days
Surface Preparation
If Richco Self Levelling Epoxy Floor Coating is laid at only 2mm thick the
concrete surface must be level, trowelled smooth
and dense, but not polished. The floor should
have a maximum surface profile of + 0.5mm,
a maximum slope of 5% and a minimum
compressive strength of 30N/mm2. The concrete
must be dry (maximum 6% moisture) and have an
effective damp proof membrane. There should be
no leaking service pipes. If the surface has soft
laitance or has been power trowelled, the surface
must be lightly ground or treated by acid etching. Highly polished and dense
floors which have also been treated with chemical
floor hardeners e.g. sodium silicate or metallic
fluorosilicate, must have the polish removed
by light grinding before
overlaying - acid etching alone may not provide
a suitable key on such surfaces. Remove all
traces of oil, grease and other.
Priming
Porous surfaces to be primed with a 4 Hour
Epoxy Primer This product can be
applied to the primed surface any time after the
primer has become tacky, but no longer than 48
hours. Clean, dry, non porous surfaces do not
generally require a primer.
Mixing
This product should only be laid at floor surface temperatures between 15°C to 35°C.
Using a slow speed paddle or heavy duty bladed paint mixer head on an electric mixer, mix the base component. Add the curing agent slowly. When thoroughly mixed add the fine aggregate steadily until uniform in colour and consistency. Mix for a further 5 minutes.
Application
Working in sections of approximately 4m² pour the mixed product onto the primed surface and spread evenly to a depth of 2mm using a notched trowel. Within a few minutes, vigorously apply a spiked roller to remove air bubbles. Repeat a few minutes later and there after until air bubbles cease. Spiked rollering should extend into the preciously applied section, but ensure that this has not hardened to such a degree that spiked rollering is not possible. Spiked shoes are of benefit to enable operators to reach all areas of the uncured floor.
Application Tools
Apply Richco Self Levelling Epoxy Floor Coating with a notched trowel and spiked roller. Spiked shoes are also beneficial. Mix product using a slow speed paddle or heavy duty bladed paint mixer.
Cleaning of Application Tools
Clean tools with a strong solvent.
